First Place – Assembly
An adaptive reuse project in Norfolk, Virginia, Assembly is home to a curated community of creators, designers, and innovative thinkers. The historic department store was reimagined to include a 5-story central atrium, a large outdoor roof deck, and a variety of shared amenities and common spaces for the building tenants to enjoy.
Every element in Assembly is thoughtfully designed to create moments of connection for its community of tenants. From the light-filled atrium to the cozy living spaces on the 1st floor, Assembly’s interior design is meant to feel more like a fresh and modern boutique hotel than a traditional office space. Assembly was designed in collaboration with WPA.
