Vibrant and original, Carytown is a beloved neighborhood in Richmond that’s home to everything from award-winning cuisine to international fashion to late night dance parties. The new brand identity is clean and modern with just a hint of nostalgia. The bold letterforms are designed to be signage ready and representative of the historic neighborhood’s quirky personality.
While the historic one mile section of town has always been well known for its colorful and quirky storefronts, the neighborhood was missing a strong brand identity for the community of over 100 local businesses to rally around and promote.
The new branded needed to: be fresh but timeless, appeal to a younger generation of visitors, elevate signage and merchandise opportunities, compliment annual events, and most importantly - unify the community of businesses and neighbors that call Carytown home.
The final logo mark and brand assets are clean and modern with just a hint of nostalgia. The bold letterforms translate easily into signage while still evoking the neighborhood’s playful personality.
New taglines, Always Exciting and Always Open, give a nod to variety of experiences that can be found from early morning treats to late night fun and the color palette and brand shapes hint at the neighborhood’s historic details and Art Deco landmarks.
The new brand is quirky and timeless. It’s positioned to inspire generations of visitors to call Carytown their favorite place to explore.
The new monument sign for Carytown features the new logo mark and brand elements. Fabricated by the pros at Wellcraft MFG, it’s the first time Carytown has a sign as beautiful and iconic as the neighborhood itself.
