Assembly

Assembly is an iconic building campus for creators and technology innovators. Located along the historic Granby Street corridor, Assembly combines creative office and tenant suites with ready-to-work desk spaces, meeting rooms, a library and recording booth, an event space, and a local coffee shop.

Assembly, an adaptive reuse project in the heart of downtown Norfolk, Virginia, is home to a curated community of creators, designers, and innovative thinkers. This 50,000 square foot, historic department store, was reimagined to include a 5-story central atrium, a large outdoor roof deck, and a variety of shared amenities and common spaces for the building tenants to enjoy.

Every element in Assembly is thoughtfully designed to create moments of connection for its community of tenants. From the light-filled atrium to the cozy living spaces on the 1st floor, Assembly’s interior design is meant to feel more like a fresh and modern boutique hotel than a traditional office space.

The atmosphere of Assembly is meant to feel welcoming, comfortable, flexible, and inspiring.

There are cozy and private spaces for heads down focused work, bar height gathering tables for collective dining, and casual lounge seating for thoughtful conversation. There is a banquette, couch, or nook for every version of work and play.

In between these points, the energetic interior includes a color palette of deep indigo, glossy black, vermillion, and vibrant yellows mixed with light woods and raw industrial elements such as polished concrete and exposed ductwork.

Streamlined minimalist seating is designed for quick dining turnover and easy maneuverability in a small space. A feature display wall creates graphic vignettes that double as storage for menu ingredients along with retro decor and live greenery. Custom-made ramen bowl sconces are hung above high-top tables and a noodle-inspired neon light hangs over the curtained hallway.
