West Cary Group

A full-service, minority-owned advertising and marketing agency, West Cary Group had a vision to transform one of its main office buildings into a cohesive, brand-forward space that could support large team gatherings and a variety of day-to-day work needs. Their team wanted to brighten and modernize underutilized space, improve functionality and flow, and create a welcoming environment that reflected the agency’s creativity, hospitality, and strong visual identity.

ENTRY BEFORE

As one of three interconnected buildings, the space lagged behind the others in functionality, lighting, and overall cohesion. The previous layout was challenging, the conference room too small, the kitchen blocked off, and the arrival experience unclear.

The goal was to reimagine the office without dramatically altering the footprint, focusing instead on flow, natural light, and thoughtful brand alignment. A new arrival lounge replaced the unused reception desk, setting a welcoming tone with hospitality-inspired details and clear wayfinding cues.

The material palette softens West Cary Group’s bold visual identity with sandy neutrals, soft whites, woven leathers, and multiple shades of blue. These choices, inspired by coastal hospitality environments, create an inviting, polished atmosphere. Natural light is amplified through expanded windows, skylights, and new glass sidelights around private offices. Historic wood doors and a tin ceiling were preserved and offset by blonde wood floors and warm-toned accents that tie the old and new together.

LOUNGE BEFORE

To support a wide variety of working styles, the design introduced flexible seating, small huddle rooms, a discreet phone booth, and an operable glass wall that divides the back area for either private work or large gatherings. Visual cues and acoustic elements were key—balancing openness with privacy using ceiling baffles, textured panels, and strategic zoning.

Custom details elevate the experience: a CNC-routed wall texture bookends the main collaboration zone, a locally inspired graphic map wall, and custom furnishings that reflect West Cary Group’s brand ethos and attention to design. The result is a cohesive, modern workspace that now fully supports the team’s creative needs while showcasing their brand with warmth, clarity, and intention.

Private offices were retained and enhanced, including an expanded CEO office, and a reimagined 12-person conference room now features ample daylight and integrated tech. The kitchen was fully reconfigured to support events and daily use, featuring concealed appliances, generous storage, and a coastal palette that evokes calm while allowing clutter to disappear behind sleek finishes.

Brand red—an important element of West Cary Group’s visual identity—was used with restraint, showing up in custom light fixtures, powder-coated table legs, and a bold, red-drenched phone room tucked in the back.

From everyday work to client presentations and after-hours events, this office now flexes to meet the team’s many needs. The result is a space that feels energized, yet calm, reflecting both who they are today and where they’re headed next.
